About Wiremi

Built from experience. Designed for possibility.

Wiremi was founded by immigrants who experienced the limits of traditional financial systems first hand. We are building beyond those limits: combining modern technology with the community based practices that have powered trust for generations, so more people can move money, build savings, and carry credible financial identity with them.

How it began

Wiremi began with something we knew personally: the experience of building a financial life across borders.

As immigrant founders, Mike and Berkley have experienced the friction first hand. The difficulty of being understood by unfamiliar financial systems. The challenge of proving trust without a long institutional history. The distance between the way people actually manage money and the way traditional institutions expect them to.

That experience gives us a distinctive starting point. It does not define the limits of what we are building.

We are not building a temporary solution for one community, or a narrow response to one problem. We are building from a lived experience toward a broader possibility: a financial system that recognises the many ways people create stability, support one another, move money, save, contribute and build a future.

Where this came from

Trust existed before the modern bank.

Long before financial trust was formalised into scores, files and institutional approvals, people built it through consistent actions.

They contributed to savings circles. They supported neighbours and relatives. They showed up for one another in moments of need. They remembered who could be relied upon, who followed through, and who strengthened the community around them.

These traditional practices were not primitive alternatives to finance. They were sophisticated systems of accountability, reciprocity and collective resilience. They created trust through participation, not merely through documentation.

Over time, much of modern banking moved in the opposite direction. Financial credibility became increasingly dependent on records held by institutions, often leaving out the realities of people whose lives, income, relationships and responsibilities did not fit neatly into one country, one currency, or one conventional credit file.

At Wiremi we believe the answer is not to discard modern financial infrastructure. It is to make that infrastructure more human, more inclusive, and more capable of recognising the evidence that already exists.

What we do with it

Bringing hidden strength into view.

Wiremi brings together the everyday behaviours that shape a person’s financial life: the money they move, the savings they build, the commitments they honour, the communities they participate in, and the relationships of trust they help sustain.

Our aim is to make those signals visible and useful. Responsibly, transparently, and with the consent of the people they belong to.

This can help someone move money with greater confidence, build savings with others, establish a stronger financial record, and carry credible financial identity from one context to another. It can also create new possibilities for people who have historically been judged only by what traditional systems could see.

We are building for immigrants, but not only for immigrants. We are building for anyone whose financial reality is more complex, more mobile, more communal or more ambitious than a conventional system can capture.

Where it goes

A financial identity that moves with you.

The future of finance should not require people to start over every time they cross a border, change institutions, enter a new community or pursue a new opportunity.

Wiremi exists to connect the visible and invisible parts of financial life: to combine the reach of modern technology with the wisdom of community based trust, and to turn lived financial behaviour into lasting possibility.

Because people are more than their financial history.

They are also what they contribute, what they honour, what they build, and what they make possible for others. Wiremi is here to help that identity be seen.

Two immigrants who landed with a financial history nobody here could read, and decided to build the thing that would have read it. Today they carry it from Mississauga to Seoul.
